Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
Botanic information
Leaf: The small dark green oblong leaves are leathery with an obtuse apex and strongly recurved margins. The underside is tomentose and the leaves are accompanied with ridged spiny new growth.
Flower: The small papillionate flowers have brown pubescent sepals and bright purplish petals with a creamy-white centre. The pedicle is short and the flowers are arranged in a small axillary cluster towards the end of the branches and appear from winter to early spring.
Fruit: The rounded pod contains small hard coated seeds.
