Propagation
Sow fresh seed after storing in a dark place for 3-6 months in containers during spring.
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and place on a misting bench. Take care when transplanting as the roots of very fine and can be damaged easily.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery textured sessile leaves form a curved base around the stem and have a long acuminate apex that is pointed and pungent.
Flower: The solitary pink to white tubulate flowers have sepals that are as long as the tube and have 5-spreading pointed lobes. The pedestal is short and the flowers are arranged densely in the leaf axils towards the end of the branchlets during spring.
Fruit: The small capsule is loculicidally dehiscent and contains numerous seeds, which are dispersed by water and gravity. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
