Propagation
Take terminal soft tip cuttings up to 76 mm (3 in) long and include 2-upper leaves. Apply hormone rooting powder and insert the cuttings with the 2-nodes below the well-drained media and maintain a humid but not wet environment with a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).
Sow fresh seed during a spring in flats and lightly press into the media without covering. Place the flats under glass or cover in plastic to maintain a humid environment and maintain a temperature of 21º C. (75º F) until germination occurs normally within 10 days. Prick out and pot up when a large enough to handle into 150 mm (6 in) pots.
Botanic information
Leaf: The thick textured grey green ovate to spathulate leaves up to 35 mm (1? in) long and are covered in short waxy hairs that give them a chalky white frosted appearance. The base is cuneate with a short petiole and the obtuse apex is dentate.
Flower: The tubulate flowers have 4-expanding pinkish petals with purplish lines and 8-conspicuous yellow anthers. They are arranged in a corymb-like panicle that appears just above the foliage on a slender scape from a late winter to early spring.
Fruit: The small follicle forms in clusters and produces many small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
