Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring and place in a cold frame until germination.

Division of the clump during autumn or basal cuttings taken during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The ovate leaves have a cordate base and an acuminate apex. The slightly pubescent upper surface is dark green and the underside is pale green with a prominent venation. The leaves are arranged in a basal rosette or alternately up the stems.

Flower: The pendant flowers are tubulate to campanulate and are solitary in the upper leaf axils, raceme-like and appear during early summer. The corolla is whitish to rose-purple or dark purple and spotted purple and pubescent on the inside.

Fruit: The small dehiscent capsule has a small slits at the base. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
