Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during early spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle. Grow in pots for one season before planting out.

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during late summer to autumn, up to 50mm (2in) long and dipped into hormone powder.


Botanic information
Leaf: The soft textured grey green leaves are ovate oblong with an obtuse apex with toothed or scalloped margins and a short petiole.

Flower: The funnelform to salverform flowers have 5-sepals and 5-deep purple petals with a slender tube. They are arranged in a raceme that appears from late spring to summer and sporadically appear until autumn.

Fruit: The small septicidal capsule contains numerous tiny seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
