Propagation
Division of the clump during spring
Stem cuttings of non-flowering shoots during early summer and water from below, avoiding wetting the foliage.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy green variable leaves are ovate-lanceolate to linear but can grow up to 10mm (?in) wide and clasp the stem. The apex is acuminate and the soft textured leaves tend to be corrugated and softly pubescent.
Flower: The small spikelets have 1-terminal, bisexual floret and are arranged in a panicle that is up to 100mm (4in) long and appear from summer to autumn. The glumes are awned with the lower ones being longer.
Fruit: The small caryopsis (seeds) are viable but may be difficult to germinate so the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
