Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in trays and prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.
Botanic information
Leaf: The thin textured mid green linear leaves have an acuminate apex.
Flower: The spikelets have 2-outer and 3-inner glumes and are arranged in a cylindrical inflorescence up to 40mm (1½in) long. The lemma extends to a fine awn and is up to 6mm (¥in) long. They appear during early summer.
Fruit: The tiny caryopsis (seeds) are viable and self sow in its native area.
