Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green narrow lanceolate to linear leaves are up to 38mm (1½in) wide and arrange oppositely up the stem on the same plane. The leaf has a basil sheath, prominent mid-rib with a rounded upper surface and a sharply acuminate apex.
Flower: The pendant stellate flowers have blue to dark violet perianth segments with darker veins and is reflexed when in bloom. The stamens have yellow filaments and the anthers are deep blue. There are 2 to 8 flowers arranged in a cyme that is held above the foliage on a slender scape and appears from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small berry is persistent on the plant. The small seeds are viable but may be difficult to germinate so the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
