Sow seed when ripe in a prepared bed.
Division of the clump during winter to early spring while dormant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The stiff textured blue green linear leaves are smooth at the base becoming scabrous towards the pointed apex. The shape is convolute-terete to angular terete and arching with age.
Flower: The spikelets are arranged in a panicle up to 300mm (1ft) long and is held above the foliage on a slender scape. The flowering period varies during spring and may be seen on the plant through the year.
Fruit: The tiny caryopsis (seeds) are arranged in dense heads. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
