Propagation
Surface sow fresh seeds during spring and prick out when large enough to handle.

Division of the rhizome during spring, and replant in situ and keep moist until established.

Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green thin leathery textured narrow lanceolate leaves are up to 300 mm (1 ft) long by 70 mm (2? in) wide with a truncate ligule and the smooth glaborous petiole sheaves the stem. The pendant leaves are arranged alternatively towards the end of the stems that are upright to arching.

Flower: The large dense panicle is elliptical in outline, up to 500 mm (20 in) long and has many flattened branches and numerous spikelets and is held above the foliage on a slender scape. The cylindrical spikelets are up to 2 mm long with 2-flowers. The glumes are paper-like with the lower glum apex sinus and the upper glum apex rounded. They appear during summer and persist on the plant.

Fruit: The small caryopsis (seeds) are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
