Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile dark green ovate leaves are arranged in groups of three with an obtuse apex and are covered in short white pubescence. When crushed they have a strong odour due to the numerous oil glands.
Flower: The small lipped tubulate flowers have a short tube and 5-expanding mauve petals. They appear sessile in the leaf axils towards the end of the branches during spring.
Fruit: The small capsule is enclosed in the calyx and is composed of four or less nutlets that contain 1-seed. The seeds dispersed by water and are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
