Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in spring or autumn with a night temperature of 12 ºC (54 ºF) and a daytime temperature of 22 ºC (72 ºF). Place in a sunny protected position off the ground.

Semi-hardwood cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring or autumn and placed on a misting bench.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery glossy dark green elliptical leaves have white tomentose at first becoming glabrous glossy green on the upper surface. It has a short petiole and an obtuse apex that is mucronate.

Flower: The cyathiform flowers have reflexed perianth segments that are up to 7mm (¥in) long rusty-brown on the outside and bright red inside. The exserted pistil is to 10mm (?in) long. The flowers are arranged in a pendant, terminal or axillary cluster up to 50mm (2in) long and appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The broad-elliptical woody follicle is up to 10mm (?in) wide with a glabrous pericarp. It contains a 10mm (?in) long seed that has revolute margins. This shrub regenerates from seed after low intensity fire.
