Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
Semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.


Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile pungent linear leaves are up to 3mm wide with strongly recurved margins that enclose the silky underside.

Flower: The reddish-purple tubulate flowers have oblong perianth segments are up to 7mm (¥in) long with an exserted pistil up to 12mm (½in) long. The flowers are arranged in a sessile terminal raceme up to 30mm (1?in) long and appear from spring to early summer.

Fruit: The cylindrical follicle is up to 6mm (¥in) wide with a thick wrinkled pericarp. The smooth seed is up to 8mm (?in) long with revolute margins. The plant regenerates from seed after fire.
