Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in spring or autumn with a night temperature of 12 ºC (54 ºF) and a daytime temperature of 22 ºC (72 ºF). Place in a sunny protected position off the ground.
Semi-hardwood cuttings of non-flowering shoots during spring or autumn.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery grey green leaves are linear to narrow-lanceolate up to 8mm (?in) wide with a prominent mid-vein and arranged along reddish, pubescent branchlets. It has an acute to obtuse apex and the underside is covered in grey pubescence with a short petiole.
Flower: The tubulate flowers have perianth segments that are black-red up to 7mm (¥in) long with an exserted grooved-pistil to 10mm (?in) long. The flowers are arranged in a terminal cluster up to 20mm (µin) wide and appear late winter to spring.
Fruit: The woody long-ovoid follicle is smooth up to 6mm (¥in) wide and has a persistent style at the apex. The small oblong seed has a narrow wing along one side extending past the testa. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
