Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn or spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Division of the rhizome from mid summer to autumn.

Note:
All parts of the plant if ingested will cause severe stomach upset.

Botanic information
Leaf: The grey green long-linear leaves have a prominent mid rib and become lax with age. The apex is acuminate and the texture is thin.

Flower: The flattish crateriform flowers have 3 -arge purplish falls with a yellow centre and a whitish crest. The 3-smaller inner petals are erect (standards) and are also marked in yellow. They appear during early summer.

Fruit: The small 3 to 6 angular leathery capsule contains numerous seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
