Propagation
Sow fresh seed in flats and lightly cover with sifted sand and keep moist and warm. Germination may be sporadic.
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during early summer or autumn.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile silvery grey to blue-green terete linear lleaves are up to 40 mm (1? in) long and are divided into 3-softly hairy segments. They are strongly ascending and arranged densely along the branchlets and are a feature of this plant.
Flower: The bright red tubular flowers are up to 25 mm (1in) long and shortly 4- lobed with a partial split down one side with an exserted looped style that is up to 40 mm (1? in) long. They are arranged in a cluster or singularly amongst the foliage and appear during spring and ssporadically throughout the year. They are pollinated by insects.
Fruit: The small brown ellipsoid nut is up to 6 mm (¥ in) long and is accompanied by dry bracts. the tiny seeds of viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
