Propagation
This grass is normally reproduced vegetatively by division during early spring.

Sow fresh seed in situ in a prepared bed and rolling ensures close contact between soil and seed, keep moist.

Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green lanceolate leaves are up to 160 mm (6¥ in) long by 18 mm (? in) wide and are flat or folded with an acute or obtuse apex. The glaborous or hirsute keeled leaf sheath is compressed and the ligule is fringed.

Flower: The inflorescence is a panicle that has 2-5 slender spike-like racemes up to 70 mm (2? in) long that is normally paired and has a long slender pedicle. The spikelets are up to 4 mm (? in) long and are arranged alternately along the flattened rachis and appear during summer.

Fruit: The pericarp is fused with the seed (caryopsis); the seeds are very small with up to 3,000,000 per kg. The small seeds are viable but the plant can be reproduced vegetatively.
