Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during autumn or stratify for three months prior to sowing in a prepared bed.
Soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green cordate leaves have 3 to 5 lobes with a heavily textured upper surface with pinnate venation and the underside is heavily tomentose. The petiole is up to 65mm (2½in) long, glandular and pubescent and when crushed the leaves are aromatic.
Flower: The female tubulate flowers are arranged in a pendant raceme up to 50mm (2in) long appearing along the length of the stems during late spring.
Fruit: The spherical berry is crowned by the persistent calyx. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
