Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer and apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile leaves are oblong to elliptical with a leathery texture and are covered in fine silvery hairs. The margins and mid rib are reddish, which extending to the heavily tomentose branchlets.
Flower: The individual pubescent tubulate flowers are very small with the sepals splitting into four, allowing the curved style to emerge. The sessile heads are enclosed in an involucre of imbricated bracts forming a cone-shape that is 70 to 100mm (4in) wide. They appear during winter.
Fruit: The fruit is a bearded nut and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
