Botanic information
Leaf: The long glossy green linear leaves taper towards the apex and have a fleshy texture. The leaves die off during summer and the plant becomes dormant.
Flower: The bisexual crateriform flowers have 6-petals and 6-prominent stamens that are arranged in a terminal raceme up to 15mm (6in) long. This is held above the foliage on a hollow scape up to 900mm (3ft) tall and appears from late winter to early spring.
Fruit: The small capsule is 3-valves with each cell containing 2-seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
