Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during late summer to autumn, up to 50mm (2in) long and dipped into hormone powder.


Botanic information
Leaf: The grey greenpinnate leaves have a short petiole and are have inear leaflets that are up to 65mm (2½in) long. The underside is hidden by the revolute margins. The new growth is deep red and is a feature of the plant.

Flower: The pubescent tubulate flower has a pedicle up to 4mm (?in) long with fused perianth segments, globular-shape with a protruding red style up to 30mm (1¥in) long. The flowers are arranged in a one sided raceme that is very showy. They appear during spring and are bird pollinated.

Fruit: The elliptical follicle is up to 9mm (?in) wide with a thin pericarp with reddish-brown markings. The oblong seeds to 9mm (?in) long with revolute margins and a waxy wing. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
