Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during late summer to autumn, up to 50mm (2in) long and dipped into hormone powder.
Botanic information
Leaf: The linear leaves are normally is simple but may be pinnatisect with up to 5-lobes, to 40mm (1?in) long. The leaves have an obtuse apex that is mucronate and the revolute margins hide the pubescent underside. Upper surface is glaucous and the petiole is short.
Flower: The tubulate flower has a peduncle to 6mm (¥in) long and the perianth segments are cushion-like with an exserted style up to 20mm (µin) long. The flowers arearranged in a terminal raceme that is up to 30mm (1¥in) long, open and pendant. They appear from winter to spring and are bird pollinated.
Fruit: The oblong follicle is ridged at the base and up to 4mm (?in) wide with a thin pericarp. The ellipsoidal seeds to 8mm (?in) long with revolute margins and a waxy wing. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
