Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).
Semi hardwood cuttings taken during early autumn or spring, up to 50mm (2in) long and dipped into hormone powder.
It is grafted on to Grevillea 'Poorinda Royal Mantle' and grows successfully in the humid eastern states.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile light green pinnate leaves are crowded along the branchlets and have narrow linear, pungent leaflets up to 130mm (5?in) long. The texture is leathery and glabrous. The sub-species have shorter leaves.
Flower: The tubulate flower has a pinkish style up to 25mm (1in) long and are arranged in a one sided raceme up to 170mm (6µin) long. The flower colour varies from pale pink to red or orange. They appear from late winter to spring and are mammal pollinated.
Fruit: The elliptical follicle is up to 15mm (?in) wide with a thin pericarp and contain smooth-glossy hemispherical seeds to 15mm (?in) long with lipped margins. The seeds are viable but it is normally reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
