Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during late summer to autumn, up to 50mm (2in) long and dipped into hormone powder.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glaucous green trifoliate leaves have 3-terete leaflets up to 25mm (1in) long with a prominentgrove on the upper glabrous surface and the underside has fine silky hairs in 2-groves. The apex is sharply pointed and the petiole is very short.

Flower: The glabrous tubulate flowers are strongly curved in bud with a peduncle to 10mm (?in) long. The exserted red style is up to 36mm (1?in) long curving gently inwards, thickening towards the pollen presenter. The flowers are arranged in an axillary raceme that appears from winter to early spring.

Fruit: The oblong glabrous follicle is up to 7mm (¥in) wide with a wrinkled leathery pericarp. The seed is up to 10mm (?in) long and channelled along the recurved margins. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
