Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
Semi-hardwood cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.
Graft to understock using top wedge method.
Botanic information
Leaf: The linear leaves have a mucronate apex and a short petiole. The texture is stiff and the underside has a faint yellowish midrib with white straight short hairs that extends to the petiole or margins. The tips of the branchlets are covered in a whitish down.
Flower: The tubulate flowers are arranged in a one sided terminal raceme. They have a curved floral tube that is pale yellow and the exserted style is up to 25mm (1in) long with a white stigma. Under cultivation flowers may appear throughout the year but are normally seen from late winter to spring.
Fruit: The small follicle is tomentose, slightly ribbed up to 10mm (?in) wide and attached by a curved peduncle. The elliptical seed is up to 10mm (?in) long and winged at both endsandare viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
