Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring and pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º to 64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
Botanic information
Leaf: The large dark glossy green pinnate leaves have 8 to 12 oblong to elliptical leaflets that are covered in fine hairs and are up to 300mm (1ft) long. They have an obtuse to slightly pointed apex and the petiole is long, covered in rusty tomentose.
Flower: The small campanulate flowers have orbicular petals up to 3mm (2/16in) wide and covered in brown hairs. They are arranged in a dense axillary panicle towards the end of the branches and appear during spring.
Fruit: The three valved capsule is divided into 3-globular lobes. They contain 2 to 3 dark brown seeds that are enclosed in an orange-yellow juicy aril which is edible.
