Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring or when available in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate. Pre-soak seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
Pruning
Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pendant dull green narrow linear phyllodes are slightly falcate with a long acuminate apex. Immature leaves are bipinnate.
Flower: The tiny tubulate bisexual flowers have prominent sticky stamens and are arranged in a small ball-shape cluster. They are solitary with a short peduncle that is up to 4mm (? in) long and appear in the leaf axils towards the end of the branches from late winter to early spring.
Fruit: The small flattened tan-brown pods are up to 5 mm (?in) wide and contain numeroushard dark seeds.
