Botanic information
Leaf: The narrow dark green oblong leaves are slightly pungent when crushed. They have a prominent mid-vein, leathery texture and an obtuse apex. The petiole is very short and the leaves are crowded in opposite pairs along the stems.
Flower: The flowers are crateriform to rotate with 5-petals and are arranged in an umbel-like cluster of 3 to 4 in the leaf axils. The flowering period may vary with blooms appearing from late winter to early summer.
Fruit: The small woody capsule contains 2 to 3 chambers. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
