Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
Stem cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green oblanceolate leaves have an accuminate apex and the base is long-attenuate with a short petiole. The the texture is leathery and the underside is pale green with a prominate midrib. The leaves are crowded towards the end of the branches.
Flower: The salverform flowers have a short swollen tube to 25mm (1in) long and 5-recurved obovate petals with an orange-red centre. They are arranged in a terminal cyme and may appear during summer or sporadically throughout the year.
Fruit: The sub-globose drupe is arranged solitary or in pairs. The husk is fibrous and the seed is red-pink to black resembling a small mango, but it is toxic. The light weight water proof fruit is designed to float and is very viable.
