Propagation
Collect and sow seed when ripe, keep moist, maintaining a temperature of 25ºC (77º F).

Germination normally takes 45 days and the viability period is short. Do not allow the seeds to dry out before sowing as this slows or inhibits germination.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green palmate fronds have up to 50-pinnae on each side of the rachis and are arranged in a single plane and are up to 450mm (18in) long by 15mm (?in) wide.The apex is truncate with a jagged margin.

Flower: The upright panicle appears below the fronds on a short peduncle and has deciduous lanceolate bracts. The brownish rachis is simple with the tiny cyathiform flowers arranged in threes 2-male to 1-female.

The symmetrical male flowers have 3-imbricate sepals and 3-valvate petals with many stamens that have erect filaments and the pistillode is ovoid. The female flower has 3-imbricate sepals and petals.
