Propagation
Sow seed when ripe and keep moist, maintaining a temperature of 25ºC (77º F). Germination takes up to 30 days. Do not allow the seeds to dry out before sowing and the viability period is short.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green palmate fronds are slightly costapalmate and are divided into two halves with silvery undersides and the slender segments are acute. The long slender petiole is up to 1.5m (5ft) long and arch out from the crown.

Flower: The bisexual creamy-white cyathiform flowers are solitary and arranged in a arching, short branched inflorescence that is hidden amongst the leaf bases in the crown. It is accompanied by tomentose sheathing bracts and all parts are ivory white. The flowering period is during summer but may vary in tropical regions.

Note
The flowers 3-sepals that are slightly united at the base and 3-imbricate petals with the filaments united from the middle upwards.

Fruit: The globose drupe is white to yellowish and contains oblong seeds that have homogeneous endosperm.
