Propagation
Sow seed when ripe and keep moist, maintaining a temperature of 25ºC (77º F). Germination takes up to 90 days to 1-year germinating sporadically. Do not allow the seeds to dry out before sowing.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green pinnate fronds have slender grass-like leaflets up to 350mm (14in) long and are arranged at different angles giving it a plumose-like appearance. The petiole is up to 300mm (1ft) long and the rachis is covered in a waxy bloom.
Flower: The male flowers are rranged in pendulous branches (rachillae) and the tiny female flower has imbricate petals and is arranged in up to 30 ridged rachillae. The branched panicle appears below the leaves and turns bright orange during summer.
Fruit: The globose berry-like drupe is green maturing to black.
