Propagation
Plant fresh seeds in a deep container during spring, keep moist and maintain a temperature of 25ºC (77º F).

Germination takes up to 90 days and do not allow the seed to dry out before sowing. Dry seed germinate more slowly.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green costapalmate fronds are finely divided more than half way into drooping linear segments. The stiff petiole is up to 2.1m (7ft) long and the fronds radiate out from the crown.

Flower: The small bisexual crateriform flowers are arranged in a branched panicle that appears amongst the leaf bases. The flowering period may vary depending on local climatic conditions but normally occurs during summer.

Fruit: The globular berry-like drupe is purplish-black when mature.
