Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).

Seeds require scarification by nicking the seed coat and soaking in water for 24 hours.
Stem cuttings of non-flowering shoots during the growing period.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous palmate leaves have 5-7 obovate leaflets to 100mm (4in) long with entire undulating margins. The texture is thick-leathery and the apex is long-acuminate. The base is cuneate and it has a thick reddish petiole.

Flower: The red to purplish funnelform flowers have 5-pointed expanding petals with 5-exserted reddish stamens with creamy white anthers. The flowers are arranged in a cluster with up to 15 blooms that open in succession. The flowering period varies from summer to winter.

Fruit: The capsule has 4-6valves and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
