Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in trays and prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle. Grow on in pots for one season before planting out.

Semi-hardwood tip cuttings taken during summer apply bottom heat.

Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are elliptical to ovate with parallel veins and short petiole. They are thick glossy dark green on the top and paler on the underside. The apex is acute and the leaves tend to be pendant.

Flower: The male and female flowers are found on different trees (dioecious). The ovoid male cones have spirally arranged sporophylls catkin-like and appear in the leaf axils during spring and the female cone has one or a few ovuliferous scales.

Fruit: The globose drupe-like cone yields editable oil and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
