Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in containers and place in a protected environment until germination occurs. Prick out and pot up into containers and grow on for one season.
Soft tip cuttings taken during late spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are elliptical to oblong with a long cuneate base and a flattened short petiole. The apex is long acuminate and the upper surface is shiny dark green. The leaves are arranged in a decussate manner along the greenish stems.

Flower: The tubular flower consists of 5- spreading petals, 4-upper and a larger lower petal with 2-exserted stamens with large deep yellow anthers. The flowers are arranged in a terminal spike that is accompanied with pointed toothed green bracts and appears from autumn to winter. In tropical zones flowers may appear sporadically throughout the year.

Fruit: The tiny capsule contains numerous flat seeds that are slightly pubescent. The small seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
