Propagation
Separate seeds from pulp and sown in autumn in a moist medium and maintain a temperature of 5º C (41º F) for 3-months.
Softwood cuttings taken from summer to autumn and place on a misting bench until roots appear with in 6 to 8 weeks. Avoid excessive moisture for both cuttings and seeds.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are broad-elliptical with small teeth when young, becoming obovate with pointed serrations. The petiole is small, with a cuneate base and the apex is obtuse. In autumn the leaves turn bright red particularly in cooler climates before falling.

Flower: The small crateriform flowers have 6-petal-like sepals and 6- petals with 6-stamens and the ovary contains a single cell. Theyare arranged an axillary raceme that appears during spring.

Fruit: The small purplish berry is pruinose with a persistent style and contains 1-cell. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
