Propagation
Stratify seeds for 2 to 3 months during winter and sow seeds in pots then place them in an cold frame.
Hardwood cuttings taken from summer to autumn.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are broad-ovate to oblong with an acuminate apex and the reddish petiole that is up to 25mm (1in) long. The glabrous leaf underside is pale green with prominentveins and the margin is entire to slightly serrated and may be undulating.
Flower: The white tubulate flowers have 5-sepals and 5-petals with 5-exserted lilac coloured stamens. They are arranged in a flattened peduncled cyme that is up to 115mm (4½in) long and appears during early summer.
Fruit: The small one seeded ovoid berry-like drupe is black when mature in autumn and persist on the tree during winter. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
