Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F) in pots and placed in a cold frame.

Soft tip cuttings in spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.
Division of the clump during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glabrous leaves are broad-ovate with a rough textured upper surface with a reddish pubescent petiole and mid rib. The margin has large rounded serrations and the base is cordate. The underside is pale green with prominentvenation and the upper surface is dull green.

Flower: The tubulate flowers have a reddish, pubescent calyx and the corolla is purplish with 2-lips. The upper broad lip is hooded and is white in the throat. The flowers are arranged in a terminal spike that ppears during summer.

Fruit: The tiny nutlet develops inside the calyx and produces viable seed but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
