Botanic information

Leaf: The glabrous small obovate leaves are notched at the apex, concave with thick margins and the underside is lumpy with oil glands. They are arranged on twigs that are also lumpy.

Flower: The small waxy stellate flowers have 5-pettals with white stamens and orange anthers that are clustered in the centre. They appear solitary or are arranged in a cluster of 3 to 4 in the leaf axils during spring and the buds are deep pink.

Fruit: The small capsule is a schizocarp (a dried fruit with multiple carpels). The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
