Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F) in pots and placed in a cold frame.

Soft tip cuttings in spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.
Division of the clump during spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green leaves size is variable with the basal being the largest. The apex is acute and the margin is serrate to dentate. The pubescent underside is pale green and the thickish petiole is up to 85mm (3½in) long. The texture is thin and the base may be cordate.

Flower: The 2-lipped white tubulate flower is has violet lower lip with a yellowish or white markings and a violet hood-like upper lip. The flowers are arranged in a terminal or axillary spike on a scape up to 300mm (1ft) tall and appear during summer.

Fruit: The small nutlet develops inside the calyx and produces viable seed but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
