Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F) in pots and placed in a cold frame.
Soft tip cuttings in spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.
Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy drk green leaves are ovate to oblong with an almost truncate base. The petiole is up to 30mm (1¥in) long and the apex is acuminate. The upper surface has a textured, pubescent surface and the underside is pale green with prominentvenation.
Flower: The 2-lipped tubulate flowers have a tubular calyx and the corolla is blue-violet with the upper lip being pubescent above. The flowers are arranged in a dense terminal raceme that is up to 300mm (1ft) tall and appears during summer.
Fruit: The small nutlet develops inside the calyx and produces viable seed but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
