Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.

General pruning information
Lightly trim after flowering to thicken up, don`t cut back into old wood as it will encourage dieback and generally will not rejuvenate. The plant may die back from excessive rich soils.


Botanic information
Leaf: The grey green leaves are narrow lanceolate to oblong with a leathery texture and the margins may be undulating. The apex is acute, base is cuneate and the petiole is short.

Flower: The individual tubulate flowers are very small with the sepals splitting into four, allowing the curved style to emerge. The sessile heads are enclosed in an involucre of imbricated pinkish bracts forming a cone-shape that is up to 150mm (6in) wide. They appear during summer.

Fruit: The fruit is a bearded nut and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
