Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).

Semi hardwood cuttings taken during summer.

General pruning information
Lightly trim after flowering to thicken up, don`t cut back into old wood as it will encourage dieback and generally will not rejuvenate. The plant may die back from excessive rich soils.


Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile silvery green leaves are broad-ovate with reddish margins and midrib. The texture is leathery and the sagittate base clasps the stem. The upward facing leaves are a feature of the plant.

Flower: The small tubular flowers are arranged in a large flower head to 140mm (5½in) wide and 150mm (6in) long. It is enclosed in an involucre of imbricated pink to red bracts that have white pubescent margins and te flowers appear from spring to summer.

Fruit: The fruit is a bearded nut and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
