Propagation
Separate seeds from pulp by soaking in water then stratify for 2 to 3 months during winter. Sow seeds in pots or flats then place them in cool position to germination which may take up to two years.
Young plants are easily transplanted during winter.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green leaves are obovate to elliptical with an acute apex and a cuneate base. The margin has variable serrations to small lobes and the mature leaf has a glabrous upper surface with a pubescent underside.

Flower: The crateriform flowers have 20-stamens with pink anthers and up to 3-styles. They are arranged in an upright corymb that is up to 75mm (3in) wide and appear from spring to early summer.

Fruit: The deep red to orange, fleshy pome-like spherical drupe contains up to five 1-seeded nutlets and is persistent on the plant during winter.
