Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 18º to 21º C. (64º to 75º F).

Division of suckers during spring.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy green leaves are oblong to broad-lanceolate and are arranged oppositely in one plane along the stems. The texture is thick-papery and the leaves tear in strong wind. The apex is obtuse and the petiole is up to 1m (3ft) long.

Flower: The individual flowers are white and are arranged in a purplish (boat-shaped) spathe. The axillary cyme resembles a crested bird and appears from the leaf axils during summer.

Fruit: The capsule contains small seeds that have a hard seed coat andare viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
