Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.


Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green sessile terete acicular leaves are pointed and arranged densely along the stems.

Flower: The red tubulate flowers have long stamens that are joined at the base in groups of 4 and are exserted pendently from the flowers (claw-like). The flowers are arranged in an axillary one sided spike that is up to 100mm (4in) long appearing during early summer and are a feature of the plant.

Fruit: The oblong woody capsule has 4-exserted valves and contains numerous small seeds that are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
