Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Division of the clump during late spring to early summer.
Note:
This plant requires little care once established and remains evergreen in warmer climates.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dull green leaves are ovate to ovate-lanceolate with a long slender petiole and an acuminate apex. The upper surface has a quilted appearance and is covered in fine pubescence.
Flower: The blue salverform flowers have a short tube with 5-spreading lobes and a whitish centre and are arranged in a terminal raceme in groups of 5 to 20 appearing from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The schizocarpic fruit is composed of small nutlets. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
