Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in pots or boxes.
Cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring to early summer. Note; cuttings taken from the upper part of the tree produce vertical growth and lower parts of the tree produce horizental growth.
Botanic information
Leaf: The sessile leaves are linear to triangular with an acute apex. The texture is leathery and stiff and the new leaves appear during spring. The tree sheds branchlets rather than individual leaves when stressed.
Flower: The tree is monoecious with the female cone growing towards the top of the tree above the male at the end of the branches. The male cone is up to 100mm (4in) long and the female to 120mm (4µin) long by 100mm (4in) wide. They appear during spring.
Fruit: The cones fall when mature and the small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
