Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame or sow in a prepared bed. Seeds may require some stratification.
Note
Care should be taken when selecting a sight as the tree has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.
Botanic information
Leaf: The flattened 4-angled leaves are silvery-white above and have a pointed apex. They are pointing forward and are crowded towards the end of the glabrous branchlets.
Flower: The small male catkin-like strobili are red-purple appearing in the leaf axils and the terminal female strobili are bright yellow-green appearing upright on the branchlets.
Fruit: The cylindrical cones are green maturing to pale brown in the first season. They have thin papery scales and each contain 2-winged seeds.
